Matt Davies and Gimmi Bruni The Green Flag Formula Three Championship heads to Donington Park this weekend for Round Three, and with the meeting at Oulton Park the following weekend, the pressure cooker is already on. Championship leaders Matt Davies and Derek Hayes will be hunting for any opportunity to open a vital gap in the Championship standings, and forty cars on the fast sweepers at Donington Park will mean guaranteed action.
With two wins under his belt, Matt Davies has both the psychological and the actual advantage over Derek Hayes. It is the Ulsterman's consistent pace and podium finishes that have put him in equal position with Davies. Hayes has been working quietly at adapting to the new machinery and it can only be a matter of time before the Manor driver is adding to the silverware in Sheffield.

The lack of funding, and consequently testing, mean that the Avanti Team and Matt Davies are ironing out the kinks in the set ups during qualifying sessions. But due to the Essex driver's skill and experience he is making the most of the situation and revelling in showing his heels to the rest of the field. He hasn't had it all his way though, at Snetterton the Avanti driver was seriously hampered by electrical problems that left him in 14th for Race 2, but still he was able to make six places on a track notoriously hard to pass on. Andy Priaulx
Paul Edwards Andy Priaulx's popular win at Snetterton has put the Alan Docking Racing driver in third position in the standings. ADR's first front row lock-out since 1992, and first win since Mark Webber in 1996, point to what a serious threat the team is this year. With Priaulx in third, just six points off the lead of the championship and team mate Paul Edwards in eighth the team have been down at Pembrey working on dry set ups, and hopefully this will pay dividends at Donington Park.

Fortec's Gimmi Bruni continued his impressive start to the season and goes into Round Three in fourth in the standings, one point in front of Jaguar's James Courtney and eleven in front of pre season favourite Takuma Sato. The Carlin racer has had a grim start to the season and this commentator believes that we may well see the start of the fight back this weekend. Sato was always fast at the Midlands track last year and the Japanese Ace is over twenty points behind in the standings. Takuma Sato
In the Scholarship Class Matthew Gilmore has made a flying start and leads the class by twenty-one points from Robert Doornbos. Mark Mayall is in third with thirty-five points. Snetterton saw the first win for both Doornbos and Robbie Kerr. Kerr is another driver moving in to F3 from Formula Palmer Audi where he repeatedly showed well. He has had a difficult start to his campaign, changing teams just before the opening race, and he needs a good weekend at Donington in order to catch the consistent Mr Gilmore.

In other F3 related news; Jaguar Racing's Luciano Burti has been replaced by the talented Spanish racer Pedro De La Rosa. It's not all dire news however as Burti has moved to the Prost Team.
